Carol Dover
In 2002 Carol bought her first Dressage schoolmaster, a 14 year old GP Hanoverian named Nike, from Sue Williams of Rhode Island.  Within the first year of owning him, she was diagnosed with breast cancer, which kept her away from the sport for almost 18 months.  Upon returning to riding, Carol continued her training with Sue until Nike had to be retired due to an injury.

In 2008, she found Decorated Debut "Duncan", a 17 h. Hanoverian and began to train with Jodie Kelly.  After lots of challenges, they earned their bronze medal in 2010.   Unfortunately, in 2013 Duncan had to be retired due to a coffin joint injury.  She lost him on May 21, 2014, only days before she and Jodie were to fly to Europe in hopes to find her a new dressage partner.

Carol had decided that she wanted to change to a Spanish horse and spent the past eight months researching exactly what she hoped to find while abroad.

Well, instead of that cute little baroque horse, she found a beautiful 17.1 h., 6-year-old German Warmblood by Sandro Hit.  Shirocco "Rocco" was imported and arrived at Jodie Kelly's Southern Cross Farm on June 30, 2014, ironically on Jodie's birthday.  However, the real irony was learning that her new horse's birthday is May 21st, the same date she lost Duncan.

Carol's faith and belief that all things happen for a reason is why she says "God closed one door and opened another".  As she enjoys riding again, she will always be grateful for all she learned from Nike and Duncan as she grows in her knowledge with Shirocco.  She is excited about being back in the saddle again.

Carol and her husband, Walt, enjoy living at WC Dover Farm in Gadsden County, FL.
